morning (by Michael Vdk)
There aren’t many lovely things about having insomnia. It’s a condition where we have a greater gateway into our hopes and fears. For without the escape of sleep our mind has time to wander. The only great joy is being conscience when the morning light creeps in. Step outside and you’re immediately surrounded by hues of blue and grey. There is this sense of stillness that can’t be compared to anything. I kind of think that’s what dying would be like. You leave your body and step onto a still plane with nothing to disturb you. For everything in this world is a disturbance. Perhaps our treat in the afterlife is the few minutes of premature morning light. And silence.
